Bolthouse Farms provides premium food, beverage and produce items to retail and foodservice customers. In the process of developing and improving our products, processes and packages, we monitor oxygen concentrations in several situations. Fresh produce is packaged in flexible films that are permeable to oxygen. We monitor oxygen headspace concentrations in test bags using an internal O2xyDot. Sample checking takes little time and does not require penetrations in the film.

Beverage products are packaged in clear PET bottles and we monitor dissolved oxygen as an indicator of shelf life potential. Using the O2xyDot makes it simple to monitor DO as often as is needed following the filling process. Sample integrity is maintained because we do not need to break the seal or remove product for the sampling procedure. We use the same methodology to monitor DO in salad dressings, as well as headspace gas concentrations.
